ELM327 USB OBD-II Laptop Scanner

The ELM327 USB is the most popular and affordable entry point into OBD-II scanning. It connects your vehicle's OBD-II port to your Windows laptop or PC via USB, and works with a wide range of free and paid diagnostic software applications.
The package is supplied as received from our supplier and includes the USB interface cable. Software is downloaded separately by the user. Popular free options include ScanTool.net OBD Auto Doctor, TOAD OBD, and Torque (for Android via Bluetooth R see below). ICM does not supply software licences and cannot provide software support.

VW / VAG-COM OBD-II Scanner

This interface is designed for use with VAG-group vehicles R Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, and Skoda R and is compatible with the popular freeware diagnostic application VCDS-Lite (VAG-COM Diagnostic System Lite) from Ross-Tech.
VAG-COM / VCDS-Lite gives considerably deeper access to VW group vehicles than a generic OBD-II scanner, including access to manufacturer-specific control modules for ABS, airbags, instruments, and more, depending on the vehicle model and software version.
The cable is supplied as received from our supplier. VCDS-Lite software must be downloaded by the user from the Ross-Tech website. Full VCDS (the commercial version) requires a genuine Ross-Tech interface; this cable is only suitable for VCDS-Lite freeware use. ICM cannot provide software support.
Note: VCDS-Lite functionality varies by vehicle
model year and software version. Newer VW group vehicles with UDS/ODX
protocols may not be fully supported by VCDS-Lite. Please research
compatibility for your specific vehicle before ordering.
BMW OBD Adapter (Older Models)

Older BMW vehicles do not use the standard 16-pin OBD-II connector. This adapter bridges the older BMW diagnostic port to a standard OBD-II connector, allowing you to use an ELM327-based scanner or other OBD-II compatible tools with these vehicles.
Suitable for use with older BMW E-series vehicles that predate the factory-fitted standard OBD-II port. For full BMW-specific diagnostic access (coding, adaptations, key programming), a BMW-specific professional tool is required.
Compatibility note: This adapter is intended for
older BMW models with non-standard diagnostic connectors. It is not
required for later BMW models that have a standard OBD-II port
fitted from the factory. Please confirm your vehicle's connector
type before ordering.
MB Carsoft 7.4 Mercedes-Benz Diagnostic Scanner

The Carsoft 7.4 is a multiplexer-based diagnostic interface designed specifically for Mercedes-Benz vehicles. It connects to a Windows PC or laptop via USB and is used in conjunction with the Carsoft 7.4 software to provide deeper access to Mercedes-Benz control modules beyond standard OBD-II.
Functions available through Carsoft 7.4 typically include reading and clearing fault codes from multiple control modules (engine, ABS, airbag, transmission), live data display, and basic actuator tests, depending on the vehicle model.

latest Mercedes-Benz vehicles using the current XENTRY/DAS diagnostic

OBD-II Compliance R General Guidelines
- South African petrol vehicles: Generally OBD-II compliant from model year 2004 onwards.
- South African diesel vehicles: Generally OBD-II compliant from model year 2007 onwards.
- Imported vehicles (European / EOBD): Many petrol vehicles compliant from 2001; diesel from 2004.
- Older or non-standard vehicles: May not be OBD-II compliant. Some older vehicles have proprietary connectors requiring a specific adapter.
- Hybrid and electric vehicles: Typically have an OBD-II port but may require manufacturer-specific tools for full diagnostic access to high-voltage systems.
Vehicles not covered by standard OBD-II scanning
- Pre-OBD-II vehicles (generally pre-2001/2004 depending on market and make)
- Non-emissions-related control modules on many vehicles (e.g. body control modules, sunroof, windows R requires manufacturer-specific tooling)
- Mercedes-Benz latest XENTRY/DAS platform (requires genuine XENTRY tools)
- BMW latest vehicles requiring ISTA diagnostic platform
- Vehicles with damaged or non-functional OBD-II ports
